First phase of project supporting the internationalization of SMEs is coming to an end

In the second phase, the project partners will monitor “the implementation of the action plans for the next two years”.

The first phase of the Intra project, supported by the Interreg Europe programme, which aims to support the internationalization of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), and in which the University of Algarve is a partner, is coming to an end.

The first phase of the Intra project was «dedicated to the identification, selection, validation and transfer of skills, with the aim of improving regional policies to support the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises», as explained by CRIA – Entrepreneurship and Transfer of Entrepreneurship Division. In the second phase, the project partners will “monitor the activities of the policy management bodies and the implementation of action plans for the next two years”.

In the action plan, the University of Algarve included the implementation of the Algarve Science and Tecnonolgy Park and the Restart partnership between CRIA, ANJE and NERA.

The Intra – Internationalization of Regional SMEs project, co-financed by the Interreg Europe Programme, «has the mission to promote the formulation of evidence-based policies at the regional level, highlighting the importance of partnerships based on the Quadruple Helix model in the research and design of new models of policies and instruments for the internationalization of SMEs”.

The project's main objectives are "to provide the mapping, evaluation and comparison of the various internationalization services available, supported by regional development policies", highlight good practices and the gaps that SMEs face at different levels of the internationalization process, from the point of view of public services provided, entities that provide business consultancy and, above all, SMEs” and “recommend viable strategies/instruments to increase good practices and fill gaps, within the scope of regional development programmes”.

Intra also wants to «increase knowledge about internationalization in the regional business context, predominantly through project partners and stakeholders» and «transfer good practices through regional Action Plans, as well as contribute to internationalization policies, aligning them with the needs of SMEs and minimizing gaps not filled with existing instruments'.
