Preschool in Lagos will have free extension hours

Meals will adopt the system of the remaining teaching cycles

Animation and family support activities (commonly known as “extension of hours”), at Pre-School, in Lagos, will be free from the next school year. In addition to this change, the City Council will also implement a meal system similar to the one that already exists in other education cycles.

According to the municipality, these measures are aimed at "obtaining financial and social benefits, as well as the administrative simplification of procedures".

The Câmara de Lagos explains the changes “in addition to making the extension of hours free for all children, regardless of the socioeconomic status of their household, they will allow meal vouchers to be purchased free of charge or with a 50% reduction, depending on the child's benefit. Grade A (corresponding to Grade 1 of the Family Allowance) or Grade B (corresponding to Grade 2 of the Family Allowance) of school social action».

The proposal was presented at the last meeting of the Municipal Executive, held on March 6, and "was accompanied by a study that analyzes the exploration result obtained in the 2017/2018 school year, as well as the projections for the 2019/2010 school year, considering the recommended changes”, adds the municipality.
