Portimão returns to devoting three days to employment and entrepreneurship

Job offers, support for entrepreneurship and training offer for young people and adults come together at Portimão Arena

More than 50 companies and public entities will be present at the “Start Work IV – Education, Professional Training, Entrepreneurship and Employment Exhibition”, which will take place between Thursday and Saturday at Portimão Arena.

Companies from the most diverse areas will take the opportunity to recruit new employees during this fair, aimed at young people aged 13 and over and adults.

In addition to job offers and professional internships, the exhibition organized by the Portimão Chamber, which has free entry, will also serve to publicize programs and measures to support investment, vocational training, normal and vocational secondary education and higher education, made available by companies and public and private educational institutions, polytechnics and universities existing in the municipality and region of the Algarve.

Initiatives to promote courses taught by the represented educational institutions are also programmed, and workshops, thematic demonstrations and short-term clarification sessions are scheduled.

AKI, Auchan, Leroy Merlin, Luna Hotels & Resorts, Martinhal Family Hotels & Resorts, McDonald's, Pestana Hotel Group, Pingo Doce, Vila Galé Hotels, Zoomarine Algarve, as well as the University of Algarve, ISMAT, PIAGET Institute, DUAL – Professional Qualification , GNR, PSP and SEF are some of the companies and institutions that will be present.

 

 

From the program, the Portimão Chamber highlights the presence of Joana Schenker, an Algarve bodyboarder with several national and international titles, who will talk about the challenges in the high competition, on Thursday, at 12:00 pm, in the auditorium of Portimão Arena.

There will also be lectures on education and training, also with first-person accounts, given by the University of Algarve and the General Directorate of Schools DSR Algarve, on the same day, from 15 pm.

On the 22nd, the “Volta de Apoio ao Emprego” will take place in Portimão, with a session dedicated to hotel business (10:30 am) and another to young people (15:00), in a partnership between the European Commission Representation in Portugal, the Employment Institute and Vocational Training and the Europe Direct Information Centers network, «aimed at underlining the continued commitment of European institutions to employment and improving employability», according to the municipality.

The “Volta de Apoio ao Emprego” annually travels to various locations on the mainland and the islands, promoting actions to publicize concrete employment opportunities and support employability, contributing to respond to what is the main concern of citizens: unemployment.

In the scope of entrepreneurship, the municipality's incubator, StartUp Portimão, will be present at this event with a stand, where it will present initiatives to promote entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurs will pass through this space, who will publicize their projects, «an opportunity for the community to ask questions and see clarified doubts related to the development of new ideas and businesses within the scope of smart cities, energy, tourism and quality of life».

“Start Work III – Education, Vocational Training, Entrepreneurship and Employment Exhibition” is a joint organization of the Municipality of Portimão and IEFP – Employment and Vocational Training Institute, IP and DGEstE – General Directorate of Schools DSR Algarve.
