The Municipality of Portimão approved support, totaling 506 thousand euros, for the organization of three sporting events in the municipality this year: the Formula 1 Grand Prix in motorboats, the Grand Prix of Portugal/Algarve in personal watercraft and the International Futsal Tournament.
Second advances the Correio da Manhã, «the investment is supported by gambling money from the casinos, through the Tourism Fund».
According to the newspaper, the municipality will have a charge of 300 thousand euros for the Formula 1 Grand Prix in powerboats, which will take place between 17 and 19 May, and will support the Grand Prix of Portugal/Algarve for personal watercraft, which takes place between 9th and 12th of May, with 50 thousand euros and, in August, the International Futsal Tournament takes place which, through a sponsorship contract, will have support of 156 euros.
In this event, «in addition to the presence of large teams, the event will involve the municipality's sports associations, with a training action for 500 children with the Inter Movistar team (in which Ricardinho, considered the best player in the world, plays)», advances the Morning Mail.
