DECO will support the Consumer Protection Service of the Chamber of Faro

Municipality and DECO signed a protocol

DECO will support the Consumer Defense Service, which is part of the Municipality Support Division of the City Council. Faro, and will collaborate with the local authority in awareness-raising actions related to issues related to consumption.

These are two of the measures provided for in a protocol signed last Friday, March 15, between the Municipality of Faro and DECO.

As part of the Consumer Day celebrations, the signing session was attended by Rogério Bacalhau, Mayor, Fernando Brás Messias, President of DECO's Regional Board, and Carlos Baía, Councilor responsible for the social area.

In the audience were, as guests, teachers and students from classes B of the 3rd and 4th year of Escola Basica do Bom João.

Prior to the signing of the protocol, an action to raise awareness of the benefits of healthy eating was carried out, presented by Sandra Rodrigues from DECO, «which captivated an enthusiastic and important participation of all», according to the Chamber of Faro.

The municipality explains that, within the scope of this protocol, DECO “will support the Consumer Protection Service, integrated in the Municipal Council's Municipal Support Division, operating in the Citizen's Shop, in the Municipal Market of Faro, ensuring weekly legal support to all residents and members of that association, for two mornings and providing informative material».

In addition to this support, the association will collaborate with the Chamber of Faro in the actions that «may be developed with schools, IPSS's and others, in order to raise awareness among the respective workers, users and family members to new issues related to consumption».

With this project, the City Council of Faro and DECO intend, «in a logic of proximity, to strengthen the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of consumers in the municipality, giving voice to their demands and contributing to the improvement of their quality of life».

The collaboration protocol is valid for a period of one year and may be renewed for equal periods, up to a maximum of three years.
