Albufeires will pay to pay less for the water they consume. The new Water Supply, Waste Water and Solid Urban Waste tariffs for the year 2019 were approved by the City Council of Albufeira and have been in force since the 20th and determine reductions in the tariffs for the 1st and 2nd level of consumption.
“The changes made in 2019 translate exclusively into a reduction in the water tariff. The new tariff will essentially benefit domestic users, who are the majority of consumers. The big drop will have repercussions at the level of the 1st level (up to and including 25mm), consumers who were previously subject to a fixed tariff of 2,5 euros and will, from now on, pay 1,1 euros. The same happens with the fixed tariff to be applied to domestic consumers on the 2nd level (> 25mm), which goes from 19,8 to 18 euros», explained the City Council of Albufeira.
Even so, “non-domestic users were not forgotten”, with small businessmen and traders also benefiting from the measure.
“For these users, the fixed tariff on the 1st level (<20mm) went from 7,5 to 6 euros and on the 2nd level (between 20 and 30mm) from 19,8 to 18 euros.
"The new prices are within the limits allowed by the Regulatory Authority for Water and Solid Waste Services (ERSAR), which aim to ensure that the values charged cover the provision of the service without causing financial loss to the municipality", stressed the Chamber Albufeires.
