The athlete Henrique Palma, from Clube Karaté Alcoutim e Martim Longo, won last Sunday, March 24, in Portimão (European City of Sport 2019), the gold medal in Kumité, in the Regional Karate Championship.
With this result, the athlete was qualified for the national karate championship to be held on April 27, at Mealhada.
The Alcoutim Council emphasizes that this sport already has around 30 children and young people practicing in the municipality. Classes, financed 50% by the local authority under a collaboration protocol with the club, take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 17 pm and 00 pm at the EBI school in Alcoutim and at the nurseries in Martim Longo and Alcoutim.
The Municipality of Alcoutim, in a note sent to the editorial staff, emphasizes that it "supports the Clube Karaté de Alcoutim and Martim Longo and congratulates Henrique Palma for this achievement and expresses its thanks for the recognition it brings to the municipality".
