Farense training does not expel other users from the athletics track

Use of the athletics track by Farense, for training, generated "a set of less rigorous and even contradictory information", according to the Chamber of Faro

The Athletics Track of Faro "It will continue to be the main stage for official competitions and training promoted by the Algarve Athletics Association and its affiliated clubs in the municipality" and Sporting Clube Farense (SCF) training on the grass field cannot harm other users of this area. equipment.

The Faro local authority and the Algarve Athletics Association issued a joint statement today, «following the dissemination in the press and on social networks, of a set of less rigorous and, even contradictory, information related to the Athletics Track of Faro and the greening process of its training field”.

all due to the controversial agreement between the Chamber of Faro and Farense, in 2014, where it was stipulated that the club would carry out «the intervention of lawn grassland, which at the moment has little use during the daytime».

"It was also agreed that, after this requalification, which will be fully ensured by the SCF in the coming months, this club will be able to use the field for football training/games between 9:00 am and 17:00 pm on weekdays, without any harm to the practice of other sports that take place there, namely athletics and, particularly, throwing disciplines», add the two entities, who met today.

Even so, the signatories of the communiqué acknowledge that "there will be some limitations on the use of the runway, only during the period in which the lawn works are carried out".

Thus, 'as a guarantee of compliance with the provisions of this joint notice, the plan and schedule of the greening work will have to be approved by the Municipal Council of Faro, which will previously hear interested parties, namely the Algarve Athletics Association».

In the document sent to the newsrooms, it is highlighted that the agreement between the municipality and Farense was celebrated «with the well-being and comfort for training and competition in mind». However, “the municipality manages this infrastructure in favor of the entire sports community, which is made up of individual practitioners or organized in clubs and sports associations. The regime does not contemplate exceptional situations for any of them».

«It is further clarified that the Athletics Track of Faro integrates the Municipal Sports Complex of Penha, which includes this infrastructure, the Municipal Swimming Pools, an 11-a-side football field, the skatepark and the Penha Municipal Pavilion, not being part of any private or associative sports center, either at present or in the future”, reads the communiqué.

The two entities conclude their joint communication ensuring that the track will also continue to be available, «as it is today, for the hundreds of individual practitioners who no longer do without this sporting space for their daily training».
