Six families from Castro Marim received the keys to their new social housing, in Urbanização das Laranjeiras, in Altura. The Castro-Marinean Chamber thus concludes the project for the construction of two apartment blocks in this locality of the municipality, works that came to a halt, but which resumed in 2017.
The building has three floors and also has two commercial spaces, which will be sold by Public Notice. «In addition to ensuring the installation of two more businesses in the parish of Altura, in a window for Estrada Nacional 125, the main road in the Algarve, they represented an important revenue for the Municipality, minimizing the construction costs of the entire building», he explained the Chamber of Castro Marim.
To get here, several problems had to be overcome. «With the completion of the first apartment block, in 2005, applications were opened for the handover of the houses in the two blocks, a process that ended today for these six families, who still met the eligibility conditions and thus saw this plan fulfilled» , according to the municipality.
The Chamber recalls that the construction of the second block of apartments was launched in 2009, "by direct administration, in order to allow the local economy to be more involved, but contractual requirements, available resources and the necessary construction guarantees revealed the procedure to be inadequate" .
“Thus, by 2015, the installation of the masonry and technical networks was completed and a tender was launched in 2016 for the completion of the undertaking. This tender required a technical project and a specification, which assumed what was now built and what was necessary, but also by virtue of the New Local Finance Law, which began to produce budgetary effects in 2014, this was one of the many works that had been completed. to wait for the Municipality to adjust to its capacity to materialize», he explained.
