The City Council of São Brás de Alportel will strengthen its support for associations in the municipality in 2019. The municipality will increase overall investment by 6% to 360 thousand euros and has already signed 19 program contracts with local authorities.
The contracts between the local authorities and the associations were signed at a ceremony that took place this Wednesday, at the Main Hall of the City Council, with «a number of local associations, which, given their relevant regular activity, in terms of cultural and/or sports training. community support, deserve regular support».
The communities supported are: the Association of Farmers of São Brás de Alportel; the Sambrasense Cultural Association; the Cultural and Recreational Association Sambrasense Music School – ACREMS; the Humanitarian Association of Voluntary Firefighters of São Brás de Alportel; the Bike Clube de São Brás; the Association for the Development of Two Wheel Sports in São Brás de Alportel (BLASIUS); the House of Benfica in São Brás de Alportel; the Center for Culture and Sports for Workers of the City Council and the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel; the Tennis and Padel Club of São Brás de Alportel; the Martial Arts Club of São Brás de Alportel; the Hunting and Fishing Club; the Machados Sports and Cultural Group; the Association for the Defense and Protection of Abandoned Animals “Coração100Dono”; the Rancho Típico Sambrasense; the Santa Casa da Misericórdia – Costume Museum; the Sociedade Recreativa 1º Janeiro and the União Desportiva e Recreativa Sambrasense.
In addition to the direct support of 360 thousand euros, «the municipality also provides, throughout the year, a set of logistical support, namely in the area of transport, cultural and sports facilities, dissemination, among others».
Overall, support for the association's associative movement "should reach a value of around 700 thousand euros" in 2019.
«With this investment in associations, the Municipality intends to encourage the expansion of the offer of activities available to the population, increase cultural and sporting training and promote the sociocultural integration of the population», explained the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.
After the signing ceremony of the program-contracts, the São Brasense municipal executive met with all the local associations and all the regional and national associations headquartered in the municipality, which are, in total, close to five dozen.
The objective of this meeting was "to coordinate the annual calendar of activities taking place in the municipality and to make known those that are the main lines of the municipality's cultural strategy for 2019 and the main rules and conditions for supporting the associations".
