Portimonense lost 2-1 against Santa Clara, in a game of the 20th round of the 3st Football League, played this Sunday, February 10rd. The Algarve team even scored first, but played most of the match reduced to XNUMX players by Jadson's expulsion.

Despite the defeat by Chaves, António Folha bet on the same starting 11 for the game against Santa Clara. Portimonense started the match better and, during the opening minutes, they were the only team to cause danger.

As early as 3′, Jackson left a first warning, with a header that went to Marco Pereira. The Santa Clara goalkeeper was again called to intervene, at 16′, after a header by Dener, defending for a corner.

Four minutes later, there was a scandalous opportunity for Portimonense, but Jackson Martínez, inside the area and unopposed, shot wide.

The Algarvians were threatening, but suffered a severe setback in the 28th minute. Central defender Jadson used his arm to cut the ball, in a move that would leave Bruno Lamas isolated. Vítor Ferreira gave the yellow card, but, after consulting the video-referee, he reversed the decision and showed Jadson a straight red.

Portimonense was reduced to 10 players, but it was in this condition that they ended up scoring. At 32′, Tormena started from the right and crossed for Jackson Martinez. The Colombian made a great header and the ball only landed in the back of Santa Clara's net. 0-1 and party for those from Portimão.

The Azorean team went after the loss and coach João Henriques brought in two players: Pablo Diogo and Schettine, to replace Kaio and Stephens, respectively.

And the truth is that, even before the break, Santa Clara reached a draw. Ricardo Ferreira also saved Schettine's first header, but the ball fell to Zé Manuel, who, isolated, only had to pull over to make it 1-1, at 44′.

In the second half, the Azorean team could have reached the second goal, through Schettine. At 50′, the Santa Clara player, with only Ricardo Ferreira to play, could not, however, give the best follow-up to a good cross.

In the other goal, on minute 52, Jackson also had a good opportunity, but Marco Pereira prevented the goal from the Colombian, with a great spot.

This was a rare threat, in the goal of Santa Clara, throughout the second half. Is that Santa Clara, playing in numerical superiority, had greater control of the match.

At 57′, Pablo could have made it 2-1, after a great pass from Patrick, but, already inside the area, he shot over.

The insular team was charging and even reached the goal, in the 73rd minute, after a short corner. Pineda made the cross, with center defender Fábio Cardoso heading without a chance for Ricardo Ferreira.

With this defeat by 2-1, Portimonense added the second consecutive defeat and occupies the 8th place of the I League, with 27 points conquered. In the next journey, the Algarve receives the Rio Ave.
