Altura will celebrate Carnival with two parades, scheduled for March 2nd and 3rd. In 2019, the central theme of this festival is music, «which encompasses not only the representation of musical genres, such as our fado, but also that of famous groups or singers, who marked generations».
The procession will feature 10 floats and 11 animation groups, representing the Parish Councils of Altura, Castro Marim and Odeleite, the group of Amigos do Bairro Quente, Grupo de Zumba, Amigos da Arrancada, Grupo de Amigos de Altura, Clube Recreativo Alturense, Associação Cegonha Branca and Intermarché.
The 18th edition of the Altura Carnival is jointly organized by the Altura Parish Council and the Castro Marim City Council and is supported by the Supermarkets, the Castro Marim and Odeleite Parish Councils and local associations and businesses.
