The man suspected of having murdered an elderly man in São Brás de Alportel was charged with the crimes of murder, theft and attempted arson by the Public Ministry and is awaiting trial in preventive detention.

On Monday, a man and a woman were detained by the Judiciary Police, at the behest of the MP from the Criminal Action Investigation Department (DIAP) of Faro, suspected of having violently killed a 70-year-old man with the aim of robbery.

«There are suspicions that on the night of September 17 to 18, 2018, in São Brás de Alportel, the detainee entered the victim's house, went to his room, where he was still lying, and hit him with an instrument. not determined to kill her», according to the MP.

“So as not to be identified, the defendant will have poured alcohol on the victim's bed, set some papers on fire, opened the gas burners on the stove and lit a candle. Then, he took with him the values ​​he found in the house», described the same entity.

The criminal investigation judge of Faro, after hearing the defendants, decreed the man's preventive detention "on suspicion of committing crimes of murder, robbery and attempted arson."

"The defendant was subject to the obligation of periodic presentation at the police station and the prohibition to leave the municipality of her residence, on suspicion of instigating the crime of theft", also revealed the Public Ministry.
