A couple was arrested this Monday by the Judiciary Police, suspected of having murdered a 70-year-old man on 18 September, in São Brás de Alportel.
Vítor Horta, who was a well-known person in the village, was found, at home, already lifeless, by a relative. At first, it was thought that he would have died due to a gas leak.
However, "following the investigation that was immediately launched, it was possible to ascertain that the man had been violently assaulted," the PJ said.
According to the Police, “thanks to a meticulous investigation work carried out, relevant evidential elements were collected, culminating in the arrest of the alleged perpetrators” of the crime.
The detainees, a 39-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, who are unemployed, will be present at a judicial interrogation for the application of coercive measures.
