The «landscape, natural, historical and architectural heritage beauty» of Cabo de São Vicente, in Sagres, inspired the artistic residency “Seascapes”, whose results can be seen from Friday, February 8th, in this town. of the municipality of Vila do Bispo.

The show will open on Friday, February 8, at 17:30 pm, at Farol from Cabo de São Vicente, and will then move to the Cultural Center of Vila do Bispo, where it will be open to the public from February 11th to 28th, from Monday to Friday, from 09 am to 00 pm.

The exhibition brings together works by Camille Leon, Jorge Pereira, José Smith Vargas, Homem em Catharsis and Carlos Norton, the creators participating in the ongoing artistic residency.

«In front of an incredible setting of scenic, natural, historical and architectural heritage beauty, artists from various areas are locked inside the premises of the Farol to create artistic pieces inspired by their surroundings», explain the promoters of the initiative.

The starting point for the creation «is a letter written by Jacinto Lucas Pires addressed to artists in residence». The result is «several individual and collective pieces, in the areas of illustration, comics, cinema, music, photography, literature and visual arts», which «form a tribute to the inhospitable places at the end of the land, guardians of the land and sea, of the life and work of the people of the sea and the faroreaders'.

“Seascapes” is an initiative of Fungo Azul, with the support of the Municipality of Vila do Bispo, of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Directorate of Lighthouses/National Maritime Authority.
