Cancer patient is the central theme of the first Teia d'Ideias of the year

Central theme will be the role of the environment in the treatment and recovery of cancer patients

"Community support for cancer patients - What answers, what gaps?" is the theme of the first debate of the cycle of talks Teia d'Ideias, scheduled for February 7th, at 21 pm, at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, in Portimão.

The cycle of talks Teia d'Ideias is back for another season of debates open to the participation of civil society, to, during the year, address issues that are on the agenda and that call for an active participation of citizens.

For this first session, the role of the environment in the treatment and recovery of cancer patients, as well as in supporting families, will be at the center of this roundtable, which aims to discuss the solutions that currently exist and what remains to be done in the region in this scope.

Among the participants will be Vanda Serrano, from the Portuguese League Against Cancer, Magda Cordeiro, from the Algarve Hospital Center, Maria do Rosa´rio Lourenço and Marília Redondo, from Social Security, Jovana Bjelanovic, from the Palliative Care Community Support Team at Barlavento, Sónia Pacheco, from Círculo Brilhante, Rafaela Mendes, from ONNCOVIDA Project, and also Luís Quintino, author of the book “Geometria do Amor- In the fight against Cancer”.

This initiative is promoted by Associação Teia D'Impulsos and has the support of the Municipality of Portimão, which will soon launch the HOPE project, especially dedicated to the “oncology patient”, with a view to improving the quality of their living conditions, seeking to promote accessibility to different therapies and activities that result in their well-being and in the adoption of lifestyles that enhance their health and a peaceful experience in their disease process.

Throughout the year, there will be several themes that will be brought up for debate, namely those related to sports, with Portimão being the European City of Sport.
