Câmara de Olhão prepares tender for water and sewage works at Armona

Works should cost 3,5 million euros

The Municipality of Olhão expects to launch the tender for the work to install water and sewage infrastructure on Ilha da Armona in the second quarter of 2019.

The intervention, with an estimated cost of 3,5 million euros, will make it possible to put an end to the approximately eight hundred septic tanks that currently exist in the nucleus with the name of the barrier island of Ria Formosa.

The intention of the municipality of Olhão, which will launch the tender through the municipal company Ambiolhão, was announced by the mayor of Olhão António Pina to Correio da Manhã. According to the mayor, the work is expected to take about 15 months.

At the level of sewers, ducts and branches will be installed, as well as three pumping stations. In terms of water supply, the current network will be renewed, which “is already old and has losses in excess of 50%”, according to António Pina.
