Algarve has 34 pharmacies at risk of closure

Currently, 679 pharmacies in Portugal are facing attachment and insolvency proceedings

The Algarve has 34 pharmacies at risk of closing, according to the Center for Studies and Health Assessment (CEFAR) barometer of the National Association of Pharmacies. 

Currently, 16 pharmacies in the district are facing insolvency proceedings and 18 are filing forfeiture, according to the same barometer.

Paulo Cleto Duarte, president of the National Association of Pharmacies, will be, next Monday, 18 February, in the Algarve, to collect signatures with a view to the delivery of the petition “Save Pharmacies, Comply with the NHS” at the Assembly of the Republic.

This manager will be at Farmácia Ossonoba, in Estói, at 17 pm, and at Farmácia Miguel Calçada, in Quarteira, at 00 pm.

Currently, 679 pharmacies in Portugal are facing attachment and insolvency proceedings, which corresponds to 23,2% of the network, according to the Barometer Center for Studies and Evaluation in Health (CEFAR) of the National Association of Pharmacies.
