Albufeira invested 400 euros in paving paths in Paderne

In December and January, several paths were paved in the rural areas of the county

The Municipality of Albufeira invested around 400 thousand euros in the repaving of paths, «many of them with markedly rural characteristics», in the parish of Paderne.

In the months of December and January «most of the works in the scope of the Repaving of Paths Contract» in the parish of Paderne were completed, announced the municipality of Albufeirense.

The works contemplated «the paving with bituminous mat of the carriageways, service areas, repairing parking lots and, in some situations, the construction of shoulders/ditches, in order to ensure good surface drainage, as well as the reinforcement of signage, over a total length of more than 11 kilometres'.

The paths of Arieiro, Faceal, Casas, Centieira and Montes Elois, as well as the path, lane and alley of Chaminé were some of the places that were intervened.

In the near future, paving works are planned to begin along the Barradinha path, on the road that connects the Jogo Ruivo path to the São Vicente path, which will also be the target of works.

«The investment in the maintenance and rehabilitation of the road network is a measure considered to be a priority and structuring for the development of a municipality, which, in addition to the natural growth of its population, receives thousands of visitors and tourists annually», according to the mayor of Albufeira José Carlos Rolo.

In this way, "it is essential to be aware, not only of the floor conditions at the level of lanes and service areas (between the lane and the walls of the houses), but also with regard to the repair of sidewalks, parking lots, water and sanitation networks, public lighting and signage, so that the necessary conditions are met to guarantee the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of vehicles and pedestrians».

This is a concern that «extends to all parishes, and the municipality is developing a set of works, in a planned and phased manner, paying special attention to the interior areas of the municipality, some with a large elderly population and predominantly rural characteristics» .

Inside the county, «accessibility is essential in accessing essential services and goods (hospitals, health centers, schools, commerce), in the day-to-day of agricultural activities and in the development of localities in economic, social and cultural terms », considered José Carlos Rolo.
