34% of university students assume they have been violent in their dating relationship

Most young people do not recognize acts of violence as such.

More than half of university students in Portugal have already suffered dating violence and 34% admitted to having committed acts of violence against their partner.

This is the result of the National Study on Dating Violence in a University Context: beliefs and practices, an initiative of the Plano i Association, which since 2017 has surveyed 2683 university students. Most young people do not recognize acts of violence as such.
