Portugal face Sweden and Switzerland in the Algarve Cup

Some of the biggest powers in women's football return for another Algarve Cup

The women's soccer team they face Sweden and Switzerland in the Algarve Cup, a women's tournament that runs from February 27th to March 6th. 

The 12 teams that will participate in the 26th edition of the Algarve Cup are already known, the competition that brings together, in the south of the country, some of the greatest powers in women's football.

The 2019 squad includes several top 10 teams worldwide, such as the Netherlands (7th on the list), current European champions, Sweden (9th), finalist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and Canada (5th), bronze medalist in the same Olympics . Spain is back in the Algarve Cup, the competition it won in 2017.

The team of the corners is inserted in group D, facing the teams of Sweden and Switzerland. The games in this edition of the competition will be played on 27 February, 1, 4 and 6 March, at Parchal, Estádio Algarve, Vila Real de Santo António, Albufeira and Lagos.

The coach Francisco Neto said, quoted by the Portuguese Football Federation website, that “we are going to face some teams that are preparing for the World Cup, with players who will show the quality they have. Therefore, I think the level will be even higher compared to recent years».
