José Vitorino was re-elected president of Algfuturo – União Empresarial do Algarve, in the elections for the association's governing bodies, which took place this Monday, January 28, in an «environment of great enthusiasm».
The list headed by José Vitorino was the only competitor in this election in which «associations and businessmen from all sectors and from all over the Algarve participated, representing a total of 1240 companies», says the association in a note sent to the newsrooms.
José Vitorino, chairman of the board, and José Lourenço Santos, chairman of the board, “were grateful for the confidence shown and the great significance of the associative-business unit at the service of the Algarve”.
In the voting, 56 members were elected, "all highly representative, qualified and experienced in associative life". The list, according to Algfuturo, is “strong in youth, with women and with links to the University, with teachers”.
After taking office, the General Assembly and the management met, «highlighting the decision to continue to work with the Municipality of Faro for the “Algarve Affirmation and Promotion Project”». 
Algfuturo also decided to create the Superior Associative Council of the Algarve, «a meeting point for all those who are open to cooperation».
In a brief intervention, José Vitorino stressed that “civil society must collaborate with official entities, but public authorities have a democratic obligation to support/stimulate civil society, to boost the economy and create jobs”.
The re-elected president also stressed that the CCDR should be given “a status of transitional body for the Administrative Region and the Economic and Social Council already created”.
José Vitorino also announced, «in the framework of the renewal of business associations in which Alfuturo is playing a leading role», that the management meetings will take place throughout the Algarve, «close to the local and business reality».
