There are already winners of the Showcase Competition under the motto of Portimão European City of Sport

Initiative was promoted by ACRAL

Sixteen stores located on the main streets of local commerce participated, between 11 and 20 January, in the “Portimão – European City of Sport” shop window competition, an initiative promoted by ACRAL – Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region, in communion with the Portimão City Council.

The “Fanatik” store won first place, followed on the podium by the “Flor Tropical” and “Óptica Algarve” establishments, following the evaluation made by the jury of the event, composed by Custódio Moreno, representing the IPDJ, Ana Fernandes, executive director of ACRAL, and Ana Lucas, head of the Sports and Youth Division of the Portimão City Council.

The criteria for evaluating the participating establishments were the relationship between their decorations and the competition's theme, the fact that they exhibit appealing windows, the use of their own materials and the harmony and aesthetics of each set. Extra-competition, the decoration of the windows of Balcão Único de Portimão throughout this year will also follow the dynamics of CED.

The prizes consist of vouchers free registration and annual tuition in one of the municipal classes operating in the Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo de Portimão, the Complexo Desportivo de Alvor and the Complexo Desportivo da Mexilhoeira Grande.

The Municipality of Portimão emphasizes that both this shop window contest and the philatelic exhibition on display at the Museum of Portimão show that «the vast programming of CED 2019 goes far beyond sports events, intending to involve local society in the project, at the most diverse levels of activities and interests'.
