Man who robbed and assaulted on Culatra Island goes to trial

A 32-year-old man residing in the Hangars nucleus of Ilha da Culatra will be tried for 19 crimes of violation of home, threat, offense to physical integrity, damage, theft and robbery, some of them aggravated, during the summer, in this island of the municipality. in Faro.

The Public Ministry (MP) filed charges against the man, who is even suspected of having committed more crimes, but whose cases ended up being shelved, because "the offended did not file a complaint or validly withdrew from the ones they filed."

The crimes of which the defendant is suspected were committed between the 17th of July and the 30th of September 2018 «in several housing centers on Ilha da Culatra, in the municipality of Faro, having been offended several residents and tourists», according to the MP.

The accused, who has a criminal record and is in preventive detention, was even subjected to a psychiatric medical-legal examination, "which concluded that the accused was criminally liable", that is, that he can be tried.

The investigation that gave rise to this accusation was directed by the MP of the 2nd section of Faro the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action, assisted by the Maritime Police.
