Folha criticizes the calendar and talks about the «physical limitations» of Portimonense

Portimonense expects an "extremely complicated" match against Marítimo

It will be a Portimonense with "physical limitations" who will face Marítimo, at 20:15 this Saturday, January 5, in Madeira, in a game of the 16th round of the I Liga. At the press conference previewing the match, Folha, coach of the Algarve, did not spare criticism of the game schedule.

72 hours after beating Benfica, Portimonense returns to the field for a difficult trip to the Estádio dos Barreiros. The short rest period could come to be an obstacle to the aspirations of the Algarve and António Folha criticized the date of the game.

“I don't understand why we play tomorrow. Clearly this does not interest players and clubs. It was one thing to play in Portimão, have 72 hours to recover and go back to playing at home. Another is going to play in Madeira and making trips from the Algarve to Lisbon and from Lisbon to Madeira», complained António Folha.

“Wasn't there space for Portimonense and Marítimo to play on Sunday morning? Or at lunchtime?” asked the technician.

In order to improve football, «players and clubs must be safeguarded», something that does not happen in this case, in Folha's opinion.

As for the game against the islanders, the coach anticipates an "extremely complicated" match. «I'm waiting for a Maritime to try to give a cry of revolt. Things aren't right. Marítimo has a good team, but they haven't achieved the results they wanted and this game will be very important for them».

“They will try everything to win, but we are calm and serene and we continue to do our job in the best way”, concluded António Folha.
