The Municipality of Faro promotes the VII Edition of the António Ramos Rosa National Poetry Prize, created in 1999, in honor of the poet born in the Algarve capital and patron of the Municipal Library.

The prize, in the amount of 5 thousand euros, «relies once again on the high sponsorship of the Millennium BCP Foundation, which has supported this biennial event since 2015,» explains the Chamber of Faro.

The jury will be composed of Fernando Pinto do Amaral, Helena Vasconcelos and João Minhoto Marques.

This award, of which six editions have already taken place, in 1999, 2001, 2007, 2009, 2015 and 2017, seeks to promote the appearance of new poets, but also to recognize the work of those already established. In all editions, he had more than 50 works in competition, having been awarded to poets such as Fernando Echevarria, Fernando Guimarães, Nuno Júdice, João Rui de Sousa, Luís Quintais and João Luís Barreto Guimarães.
