Pedro Miguel Monteiro wins “Calceteiros de Letras” award

The award was instituted within the scope of the 120th anniversary of the Ginásio Clube de Faro

Actor and director Pedro Miguel Monteiro is the winner of the “Calceteiros de Letras” Award, promoted by the Ginásio Clube de Faro. 

This prize was awarded “for his action and dedication over the last two decades, in the dissemination of the word and poetry as an artistic object in the performing arts”, explains the Ginásio Clube de Faro.

The award created by Farense artist João Franck was presented by Alexandra Gonçalves, regional director of Culture of the Algarve, at the closing of the II Festival Spoken Word – Calceteiros de Letras on 11 November, with the presence of the Mayor of Faro Rogerio Cod.

Pedro Miguel Monteiro was born in Faro in 1960. He is an actor and director of te-Atrito, a professional theater group he helped found in 2005. Between 1984 and 2005 he was a teacher and collaborated in amateur and school theater projects, having coordinated youth theater, senior theater and theater groups university in Minho, Azores and Algarve. He has participated as an actor in films and is the author of two books – “O Poeta” and “Poezia Bruxa”.
