Parents and children will march for tolerance in Olhão

The march is organized by the Association of Parents and Guardians Education of Olhão and is open to all

Students from schools in Olhão and their parents will pick up lights and march for tolerance, on the 16th of November. The walk starts at Jardim Pescadores Olhanense, at 19 pm, and is open to the entire population.

The «1st March of Lights for Tolerance» by CAPEEAECO – Circle of Associations of Parents and Guardians of School Groups of the Municipality of Olhão aims to leave «a “sign” to raise awareness and awaken the school communities to this problem».

“Tolerance is an issue that is increasingly relevant in a society where we are witnessing an intensification of social intolerance, where violence and terrorism, as well as acts of intimidation against people who exercise their freedom of opinion and expression are increasingly more”, according to the organizers of the initiative.

“In this sense, it is necessary to defend tolerance where it is accepted that every individual has the free choice of his convictions and that the other has the right to enjoy the same freedom. Today, giving opinion is confused with imposing opinion in a fundamentalist way, nullifying all the different points of view and it is urgent to repair this growing wave of intolerance», they add.

Participants are challenged to cover a route of about six kilometers, which passes through seven schools in Olhão, which will display a tarpaulin with the message “Here we are tolerant”.

Anyone who wants to participate “just bring a good mood and a light that should withstand the entire march”, since it will symbolize tolerance.
