Festival of Accordionists of São Brás showcased young talents from the Algarve

Festival of Accordionists is organized by Associação Cultural Sambrasense

Young talents from the Algarve were highlighted at the XXXIV Accordion Players Festival of São Brás de Alportel, which took place last Saturday, November 25, in the Santa Casa da Misericórdia Party Room. 

«In an edition full of talent, the Festival presented more than fifty young accordionists. The result of thousands of hours of study, training and dedication to music and the accordion went up on stage», says the City Council of São Brás.

The young talents represented several schools where they learn to play the king instrument of the Algarve region.

In this edition, 13 schools from Algarve participated with the teaching of accordion, namely: Conservatório de Música de Olhão (under the coordination of São Paulo teacher Anabela Silva), APEXA (represented by teacher Nelson Conceição), the music schools of Nelson Conceição de Loulé, Bordeira and Albufeira, the Rancho Folclórico de Loulé school, the Rancho Infantil de Loulé school, the Casa do Povo da Conceição de Faro (represented by Professor Jorge Alves), the Águia Som de Olhão Music School (Professor Jorge Alves), the Music School of the Artistas de Minerva Philharmonic Society, Loulé (Professor Jorge Alves), the Music School of the Sambrasense Cultural Association ( represented by professors Júlio Pereira and Hermenegildo Guerreiro), Cultural Association of the Folklore Group of Faro (Professor Hermenegildo Guerreiro), Casa do Povo School of São Bartolomeu de Messines (Professor Hermenegildo Guerreiro) and the Accordion School of Castro Martim (Professor João Pereira).

The Accordion Players Festival of São Brás de Alportel is annually organized by the Associação Cultural Sambrasense and aims to publicize the learning of students from different schools, promote interaction and share among talented young musicians and promote the accordion as an instrument present in musical traditions Algarve.

The initiative is supported by the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel and by the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel.
