Lagoa Chamber swept by a “Red Wave” to raise awareness of breast cancer

Lagoa joined the “Onda Rosa” campaign of the Portuguese League Against Cancer

A “Onda Rosa” is sweeping Lagoa Town Hall, to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer. The municipality of Lagos joined the Portuguese League Against Cancer campaign and will promote awareness-raising actions related to this disease.

One of the immediate measures was the creation of the “Dia Rosa” at the institution, “a challenge launched to the municipality's employees in which everyone wore a pink garment, as an illustration”.

This initiative of the Portuguese League Against Cancer, held for the fourth consecutive year, took place in a month that marked, on the one hand, the World Breast Health Day (15 October) and, on the other, the National Day for the Fight Against Cancer da Mama (October 30th), placing this month as a month of pink color par excellence.

The movement known as Pink October was born in the United States, in the 1990s, with the aim of encouraging the population to control breast cancer.
Currently, the date is celebrated annually, raising awareness and sharing information about this disease.
