Barbie, Bansky and pink megaphone celebrate Philosophy Day in Secondary of Portimão

This is the way to celebrate World Philosophy Day at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School, in Portimão

What do a Barbie doll, a fishhook, a semi-destroyed replica of Banksy's “Balloon Girl,” a pink bullhorn, or a pitchfork cap have in common?

All these objects, more obviously or more subtly, raise philosophical perplexities that make us think. They were all brought together in an exhibition called “philosophical objects”, open to the public in block B of the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Secondary School, in Portimão, from today until next Friday, November 16th.

The exhibition brings together objects selected by the 10th O class (Visual Arts), teachers and guardians.

On the poster, the title appears in the mother tongues of the 10th grade students, in the light of the motto “Between Gentes… between cultures” in the area of Citizenship and Development.

In addition to the exhibition, the films “Persepolis”, by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, and “Que Mal Did Eu a Deus?”, by Philippe de Chauveron, will be shown in the auditorium.

The event is organized by the ESMTG Philosophy Group and by the Sala de Cinema project.

A final warning, made by the organizers: «prolonged use of Philosophy can cause side effects».
