Football Association launches goalkeeper training center in Algarve

This is "a space for technical improvement", dedicated to the under-13 and under-14 levels.

The Algarve Football Association inaugurated this Wednesday, 28 November, the first goalkeeper training center in its history, with the first session taking place at Campo da Palmeira nº2, in Albufeira. 

The Algarve Football Association's most recent player training center is “a space for technical improvement” dedicated to the under-13 and under-14 levels, according to José Borges, regional technical director.

"The main objective is to promote and enhance the position of goalkeepers and motivate them to continue to evolve," he added.

The initiative is based on “Project 1 – Goalkeeping School”, developed by the Portuguese Football Federation since 2015 with Vítor Baía as mentor.

Rafael Lourenço, Tomás Poupinha, Filipe Dourado, Rodrigo Fontaínhas, Rodrigo Alho, Gonçalo Santos, Miguel Rodrigues, Henrique Ferreira, Miguel Fernandes, Dilan Bandeirinha, Diogo Silva, Tiago Proença, Tomás Costa, Lucas Fachadas, João Santos, Gustavo Campos and Luís Batalha were the athletes present in the debut call.

The 17 young players selected represent Portimonense, Farense, Olhanense, Louletano, Immortal, Messinense, Guia, Escola de Futebol de Faro, Esperança de Lagos, Quarteiense and João Moutinho Football School Association.
