Whether roasted in a wood oven, fried or even in jam, sweet potatoes are once again the queen, from November 30th to December 2nd, for another festival in Aljezur.
Gastronomy, tradition and culture are once again in evidence at the Sweet Potato Festival, one of the main posters in Aljezur.
The variety of gastronomic offer will include four restaurants, three taverns, but also an enhanced offer of street food and a snack area, in the outdoor tent, “which will approach Aljezur's sweet potato in a lighter and more uncompromising way,” says the City Council.
The temptation of sweets maintains a strong presence and, in every corner of the festival, it will be easy to be tempted by a varied pastry, based on Aljezur's sweet potato, chocolate with sweet potatoes, a liqueur, a jam, a brandy , an ice cream, a hot drink or even for a craft beer.
"More than a hundred exhibitors will bring the color, crafts and genuine products of the region to delight the thousands of visitors who are expected this weekend in Aljezur," according to the municipality.
«For them will also be reserved the best sweet potato in the country and in the world, of the Lira variety, holder of the Protected Geographical Identification (PGI) seal, guaranteed by the Association of Sweet Potato Producers of Aljezur, which will also make roasted potatoes available in wood oven and fried sweet potatoes».
«The commitment and affirmation of this quality product has been one of the concerns of the Association over the last few years and of the Municipality itself».
This is an event that proves to be «of the greatest importance for the county and that has already established itself as a major gastronomic festival at national level, much visited by all those who seek the different flavors of this region».
The entertainment will be constant, highlighting the live preparation of varied recipes by chefs.
The Sweet Potato Festival is open on Friday and Saturday from 12:00 to 24:00 and on Sunday from 12:00 to 22:00.
Entrance and parking are free.
