A free screening for cancer and other skin diseases will take place between 10 and 12 October, in the municipality of Castro Marim. This initiative, which will pass through Odeleite, Azinhal, Altura and Castro Marim, is aimed at the entire population of the municipality.
The Chamber of Castro Marim explains that «this initiative is periodically developed by the municipality, with the voluntary collaboration of the dermatologist, Manuela Aguiar, and has allowed the detection of tumor lesions at an early stage, which are then urgently forwarded to the Hospital de Faro».
In these screenings, the treatment of «possible precancerous lesions (actinic keratoses) with liquid nitrogen, acquired for this purpose, is also carried out». This is the second action taken this year.
On 10 October, the screening will take place at the Odeleite Parish Council, between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm, and at the Continued Care Unit in Azinhal, between 14:00 pm and 17:30 pm.
On the 11th, the Altura Parish Council will receive the screening between 9:30 am and 12:30 pm and 14:00 pm and 16:30 pm.
In Castro Marim, the initiative takes place at the Municipal Library, on 12 October, between 9:30 and 12:30 and 14:00 and 16:30.
