Filipe Albuquerque fights for the podium of the European Le Mans Series at the Autódromo do Algarve

Portuguese driver is satisfied with the result and confident of a good result this Sunday

The Portuguese driver Filipe Albuquerque starts today from 3rd place on the grid for the 4 Hours of Portimão race, the last of the 2018 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) championship, which takes place on the track of the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. In other words, you have a great chance of finishing on the podium in the race.

Yesterday, Saturday, 39 riders participated in what was the last qualifying session of the ELMS. The Portuguese Filipe Albuquerque and Henrique Chaves secured, respectively, the third and eighth position on the grid in the race, at the Autódromo Algarvio.

Nicolas Jamin, a French driver riding an Oreca, will lead the starting grid at 4 o'clock in Portimão, followed by Briton William Stevens, who managed to beat United Autosport driver Filipe Albuquerque's time by 0,06 seconds.

For the Portuguese, who secured the third position in the qualifications, the result this Saturday left him confident for the race, this Sunday, ensuring once again that his goal is to reach the podium, in the last and sixth race of the championship.

“I'm happy with the result, it's a good position to start a four hour race. However, I think I could have done even better if I hadn't caught the yellow flag. But, that's what it is, and right now we're just thinking about the test. We really want to climb to the highest place on the podium and finish the season in the best possible way», said Filipe Albuquerque, to the «AutoSport» newspaper.

Henriques Chaves, the other Portuguese driver to race at home, reached the eighth position. The young man expected better, but this position is still positive. Having been the best rider among the Dallara, Chaves, a young rider from Adrian Vallés' Spanish team AVF, was satisfied with the final result.

Saturday, under blue skies, was marked by several emotional moments, during qualifying and by the realization of the first races of the weekend: TCR Portugal, Super 7 by Toyo Tires and Kia Picando.

This Sunday, October 28th, will be the culmination of all the ELMS championship events. At 9:00 am, the Le Mans Cup race began, followed by 4:12 in Portimão, which starts at 30:2 pm and is broadcast on RTPXNUMX.

In other words, an exciting and perfect Sunday for lovers of endurance racing.
