Faro marks the Municipal Day for Equality with trips to schools and awareness actions

The idea is "to make the community aware of the issue of equal opportunities"

Faro marks, this Wednesday, 24th of October, the Municipal Day for Equality, with trips to school and awareness-raising actions in the entire community.

These initiatives arise within the scope of the Municipal Plan for Equality for the 2016-2018 biennium and the work promoted by the working group for the area of equality.

With a program of activities, Faro accepted, for the third consecutive year, the challenge launched to municipalities by ANIMAR (Portuguese Association for Local Development) to integrate the national agenda of initiatives related to the Municipal Day for Equality.

Thus, in the capital of the Algarve, from 9:00 am to 13:00 pm, at the Municipal Market, the work done by the working group will be presented to the community.

At the same time and in the same place, it will also be possible to visit two exhibitions on this theme: “For me Equality is” and “Women in Local Power, faces of their diversity”.

The primary schools in Montenegro, Conceição and Santa Bárbara de Nexe will also stage the commemorations, with actions to raise awareness among children about this theme.

The general objective of the program is to "strengthen the issue of equality among local communities and raise awareness in the community in general about the issue of equal opportunities", as well as "disseminate the work carried out by the group of partners, resources, actions and projects underway or developed in the area of equality'.

It is also intended to strengthen “inter-institutional communication in the various territories of the municipality” and to strengthen, or even expand, the existing partnership.
