Elidérico Viegas remains ahead of AHETA's destinations until 2021

New governing bodies want to "contribute to the affirmation and consolidation of the tourism offer" in the Algarve

Elidérico Viegas was reappointed as chairman of the board of the Association of Hotels and Touristic Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA) in the elections for the association's governing bodies, for the 2018-2021 triennium, which took place on the 19th of October.

Carlos Cabrita, representing Vila Galé, SA, was also reappointed chairman of the General Meeting, while Mário Ferreira, from the NAU Hotels group, was elected chairman of the Supervisory Board.

The Board also includes, as vice-presidents, Joel Pais (Solverde, SA), Jorge Beldade (Marinotéis, SA), José Queiroga Valentim (Pedras D'El Rei, SA), Luís Correia da Silva (Dom Pedro Golf, SA) , Martinho Fortunato (Marlagos, SA), Pedro Lopes (Salvor, SA), Reinaldo Teixeira (Garvetur, SA) and Rúben Paula (JJW Hotels).

As AHETA explains, the association's governing bodies "have tourist activity, the defense of businessmen and, obviously, the creation of better conditions for their workers as a target and major objective, being situated in the specific plane of tourism, without, however, fail to take a global perspective of the economy of the region and the country».

The elected officials «are committed to asserting the views of the Algarve's hotel and tourist companies, as well as contributing to the affirmation and consolidation of the regional tourism offer in the national and international context», adds the association.

AHETA guarantees that it will “continue to actively engage in the construction of a positive approach to tourism in the Algarve, with a view to safeguarding business interests, especially as the quantitative and qualitative importance of tourism in the region, in the present and in the future. , involves the inversion of a process that has not recognized the reality of the Algarve tourist market, translated into often wrong policies and with perverse results».
