About two hundred people joined the free screenings for cancer and other skin diseases promoted by the Chamber of Castro Marim between 10 and 12 October.
This type of screening, open to the entire population, has been promoted annually by the municipality, always on two different occasions: one before the summer, which also focuses on the care to be taken with sun exposure, and another in the month of October, after the end of the bathing season.
«The periodic performance of these screenings has allowed the detection of tumor lesions at an early stage, which are then urgently forwarded to the Hospital of Faro. Treatment of possible precancerous lesions (actinic keratoses) is also carried out with liquid nitrogen, acquired for this purpose”, according to the Chamber of Castro Marim.
As in previous actions, this initiative had the voluntary collaboration of the dermatologist, Manuela Aguiar, and the support of the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve, UCC Santo António de Arenilha and the Sotavento Health Centers Group.
