Aljezur firefighters rescue young Spanish surfer in Monte Clérigo

The 16-year-old surfer had already taken refuge on a rock when firefighters arrived.

A 16-year-old Spanish surfer was rescued this Saturday from the bottom of a cliff, next to Monte Clérigo Beach, in Aljezur, by a wide-angle team of local firefighters.

Second revealed to Sul Informação the District Relief Operations Command, the victim “was already on a rock when the rescue equipment arrived at the scene”. The wide-angle team descended the escarpment and rescued the young man.

The surfer, when he was rescued, only "had small bruises on his lower limbs and refused to be transported to a health unit."

16 operatives were sent to the site, supported by eight vehicles, from the Aljezur Fire Department, the Maritime Police and the GNR.
