The “Algarve Classic Festival” (ACF), which is already the biggest event for classic cars in Southern Europe, returns from October 19th to 21st, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), in Portimão.

«Taking advantage of the good weather that is still felt in the Algarve, this event counts every year with more than 300 teams and 500 riders from all over the world», he tells the AIA.

2018 promises, then, «to be, once again, a successful edition», with the presence already confirmed of several modalities of the international “Historic Racing”: the Algarve Sports-Cars Pre-75, the Formula 1 to 66, the U2TC for Tours up to 66, the GT & Sports Cars Cup Championship for Grande Tours prior to 65, the HTCC for Group A Tours up to 90, the Motor Racing Legends for Sports Cars Pre-65, the PRE 63' GT for GTS from 1958 to 1963 and the Iberian Historic Endurance.

"After the success of the last two years, and living up to its reputation, the Historic Endurance grid already includes 50 entries and five reservations," said the AIA.

Also in 1, CSS Group2018 will have a race exclusive to Group 1 for the first time, without having to share the track with other cars.

Formula Ford will once again have international participants who, in 2017, made it possible to fill the starting grid. In addition to these two competitions, at national level the National Classics Championship (including 1300 Classics) and the National Legends Championship will also be on track.

The biggest news this year will be the debut of the Lansdowne and GP Originals competition for GP 250 and 350cc motorcycles. This will be a «return to the 1970s, early 80s, where Moto GP was going through an exciting time».

Paulo Pinheiro, CEO of Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, guarantees that «this will be another successful year for the Algarve Classic Festival. With the participation of more than 500 riders in competition and with the debut of classic motorcycle races, this is undoubtedly an event for lovers of classics, whether they are two or four wheels».

Diogo Ferrão, organizer responsible for the event, says that the «Algarve Classic Festival is one of the most cherished events by the public and by European riders. The ACF is made not only thinking about the drivers, but also about the true enthusiasts who can appreciate the beauty and rarity of the fantastic machines that we will have competing”.
