Doctor Óscar da Silva Oliveira will be honored, on November 1st, at 15 pm, in Giões, in the municipality of Alcoutim, with the inauguration of a monument in his honor.
This initiative by the Municipality of Alcoutim «intends to mark the years of service provided to the population of the municipality, as well as to distinguish the work developed in the social area».
Óscar Oliveira joined the Alcoutim Health Center as a general practitioner in January 1983. Since that date, until his retirement in 2008, he always worked in the Alcoutenejo council.
The clinician occupied «several parallel positions and functions, namely those of substitute for the Sanitary Authority of the Municipality of Alcoutim and deputy of the health council delegate. Provided punctual medical assistance to users of Day and Home Centers in the municipality of Alcoutim, collaborated in the project to support and treat alcoholic patients (partnership of the Municipality of Alcoutim, Alcoutim Health Center and the Southern Regional Center for Alcoutim) and participated in numerous clarification sessions in the municipality's schools on topics such as drugs, alcoholism, among others», recalls the Alcoutim Chamber.
According to the municipality, "his path was marked by professional dedication, talent and pride, having continued, after retirement, to exercise medical activity as a volunteer, considering his contribution to the county's population, especially the elderly, to be extremely important. ».
«Generous, kind and with a remarkable sympathy, Dr. Óscar, as he is affectionately treated, is a personality known to the entire population of the county, from the elderly to the youngest, setting an example for everyone, as a person, as a doctor and as a citizen», concludes the City Council.
