Exhibition in four municipalities shows “50 Books, 50 Algarves”

At the inauguration at CCDR Algarve there will be a conference and a get-together.

The exhibition “50 Books, 50 Algarves”, with works about the region in its different aspects of heritage, will be on display until 31 October, in the exhibition room of the Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) of the Algarve, at the Biblioteca da University of Algarve – Gambelas, at the Municipal Libraries of Faro, Lagoa, São Brás de Alportel and Vila Real de Santo António and also at the Seminary of Faro.

The bibliographical exhibition, promoted as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, brings together more than a dozen entities from the Algarve to celebrate the richness and diversity of heritage at European, national, regional and local level.

The initiative is a co-organisation of the Europe Direct Algarve Centre, hosted by the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR Algarve), and the Algarve Regional Directorate of Culture.

The District Archives of Faro, the Municipal Library of Silves and the Costume Museum.

The inaugural program, taking place on the 28th of September (Friday), from 16:30 pm, at CCDR Algarve, in Faro, includes the conferences on “When the Algarve was not just White and Ornament in Architecture was not a Crime” and “The originality of the platbands in the Algarve's architecture”, as well as a social tour, with a cultural tour of the local heritage in Baixa de Faro.

Since the beginning of the year, CCDR Algarve, through the Europe Direct Algarve Information Centre, «operationalizing its mission to bring citizens closer to Europe, has been promoting various regional partnership initiatives that celebrate the theme and disseminate news and resources of the European Year of Cultural Heritage», says that body.

In parallel, in addition to the events scheduled for the opening date, the entities involved will streamline a set of activities throughout the month of October, which will also be disclosed here.
