Spanish and Portuguese knit to mark World Tourism Day in Faro

Tourists will take souvenirs from Faro next Thursday

20 Spaniards and 20 Portuguese will knit together, next Thursday, September 27, to mark the World Tourism Day, in Faro.

In addition to this initiative, which takes place from 11:00 am, at Jardim Manuel Bivar, there will also be initiatives aimed at tourists visiting the capital of the Algarve on this day.

According to the Chamber of Faro, «among the activities to be carried out, there is the presence of promoters with photo frames alluding to the day, who will interact with visitors, who will offer a souvenir of their visit to Faro».

The initiative will take place at the municipal market, between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm, and at Arco da Vila, between 14:00 pm and 18:00 pm.

The action taking place at Jardim Manuel Bivar, which will be supported by the Chamber of Faro, is organized by the Três Culturas Foundation, within the framework of the Creative Europe Community programme.

This initiative will join a group of 20 Spanish visitors to another 20 Portuguese, who will knit together outdoors for two hours.

Throughout the event, passersby will also be invited to learn to knit. "The resulting work will be placed/wound in chains at the marina, in a kind of sharing chain and offering to the city", explains the City Council. Faro.

World Tourism Day is celebrated this Thursday, 27th of September, with the World Tourism Organization (WTO) having chosen the theme Tourism and Digital Transformation for this year's edition.

The digital evolution seen in recent years "is helping to transform the way people communicate and capture information, encouraging innovation and the development of new conscious and sustainable growth strategies", concludes the municipality.
