Cinema cycle addresses LGBTI issues in Loulé

After the screening of the films, there will be debates that address the diversity of sexual orientation and gender identity and/or expression

The 14th LGBTI Film Cycle will pass through Loulé between the 14th and 16th of September. The event takes place at the headquarters of the Casa da Cultura de Loulé, in Parque Municipal, where five films will be screened that aim to raise awareness of the reality of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex (LGBTI) youth.

The films will address issues such as homosexuality, bisexuality, homoparenting, intersex issues, the coming out and trans issues.

The first film shown will be “Rip 2 My Youth”, on the 14th, at 21 pm. This is one of the first documentaries on transsexuality made in Portugal and it tells the real story of Isaac dos Santos, a 00-year-old boy, who went through the process of gender transition.

On the 15th, at 14 pm, “00 beats per minute” by Robin Campillo is presented. «With the French background of the early 120s, it portrays the history of ACT UP, a French group that, in that decade, became known for promoting non-violent actions in defense of the prevention and treatment of AIDS», reveals the Chamber of Loule.

“Moonlight”, film awarded the Oscar for “Best Film”, by director Barry Jenkins, is presented, on the same day, at 18:30 pm. This is a "timeless story of human relationships and self-knowledge" that "reports the life of a young African American from childhood to adulthood and his struggle to find his place in the world while growing up in a violent neighborhood in Miami."

On the closing day of the Cycle, September 16, at 14 pm, “Carol”, a film by Todd Haynes with Cate Blanchett as the protagonist, is screened. past in years

Finally, at 20:30 pm, Jérôme Bonnell's “Three is not too much” will be screened. «This film tells the story of Charlotte (Sophie Verbeeck) and Micha (Félix Moati) who have been together for four years and the relationship shows signs that it is falling into monotony.
