São Brás Health Center will have a dentist

Oral health consultations start in 2019 and will continue for at least 3 years

The São Brás de Alportel Health Center will provide oral health consultations from 2019, under a cooperation protocol signed this Tuesday, September 18, between the São Brasense Chamber and the Regional Administration of Health (ARS) of the Algarve.

The agreement will be in effect for 3 years and can be renewed.

Through the protocol, the Municipality of São Brás de Alportel undertakes to allocate a support of 24.600 euros to ARS Algarve «for the acquisition of clinical equipment for the oral health room that will be created at the Health Centre».

«ARS Algarve undertakes to carry out the necessary works in the room reserved for oral health consultations at the Health Centre, to guarantee the necessary human resources for the consultations and the training of human resources allocated to this service, as well as guaranteeing the necessary conditions for the proper functioning of this new service, among which consumable materials are included», revealed the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.

This action is part of the expansion phase of the pilot project launched by the Government in 2016 for the implementation of oral health consultations in the National Health Service.

«The municipality and the ARS Algarve will provide the entire population of the municipality with access to oral health care. It is a protocol of utmost importance for the health and well-being of the population, priority areas for the municipality», summarized the mayor of São Brás de Alportel Vítor Guerreiro.

This measure is aimed at "the prevention of various health problems, by allowing access to oral health care to many people from São Brás who are unable to access these consultations in the private system."
