Fonte Férrea, in the municipality of São Brás de Alportel, will receive, next Sunday, September 30, a cleaning action promoted by the Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve. After cleaning, which starts at 10:00 am, a picnic and a get-together are scheduled, both free of charge.
“The impact of the garbage we produce, however careful we are, is enormous. Part of this impact is clearly visible in the garbage accumulated in our rivers, streams and beaches. Much of the waste accumulated in the ocean originates in the interior of the territories, with rivers and streams being the main transport channels», explains Centro Ciência Viva.
In this action, «we will reduce a little of this impact, removing all the garbage from a section of the riverbed, taking advantage of the teamwork and the interaction between everyone».
The Ciência Viva Center challenges: «bring friends and family and join this joint effort!».
This cleaning action is part of the “For this River Above” project, which promotes knowledge, rehabilitation and protection of rivers and streams, making society aware of a more active, open, transversal and participative citizenship.
This project is financed by the Environmental Fund of the Ministry of Environment and is promoted by Ciência Viva, covering the various partners of the Ciência Viva Centers Network.
The action is included in the Week of Education and Environmental Volunteer Initiatives (SEIVA), has the support of the São Brás de Alportel Chamber and funding from the Environmental and Living Science Fund.
