Anthropologist René Bobe comes to Faro talk about human evolution

Initiative comes within the scope of the 8th annual congress of the European Society for the study of Human Evolution

Anthropologist and paleontologist René Bobe will give a lecture on September 12th, at 19:30 pm, at Teatro Lethes, in Faro, on the latest discoveries in human evolution.

This initiative is promoted by the Interdisciplinary Center for Archeology and Evolution of Human Behavior (ICArEHB) of the University of Algarve and the lecture is called “The first three million years of human evolution: the ecology of our African ancestors”.

The initiative is, therefore, «a unique opportunity for the non-specialized public to learn about the most recent discoveries in the field of Human Evolution. All interested parties are invited to participate, simply by making the your registration, free but mandatory».

Inserted in the 8th annual congress of the European Society for the study of Human Evolution (ESHE), the lecture will also be the opening session of this congress, which will take place between the 13th and 15th of September, at the University of Algarve's Campus de Gambelas.

The initiative, which takes place for the first time in Portugal, will bring together the world's leading experts in Human Evolution.

According to the University of Algarve, «the most recent discoveries will be presented, from the emergence of the first hominids in Africa, to the evolution of the Anatomically Modern Man. Among the more than 200 presentations is included the dissemination of the most recent investigations on the behavior of the Neanderthal Man, namely the use of fire and the oldest rock art in Paleolithic caves».
