Albufeira welcomes the end of the «largest national off-road motorcycle tourism adventure»

The competition, which is not competitive, brings together 350 Portuguese and foreign motorcyclists

The «largest national off-road motorcycle tourism adventure» will take place in Albufeira on the 29th of September. Praça dos Pescadores, in the center of the city, will be the arrival point of the “Portugal de Lés-a-Lés Off-Road”, an event that has 350 national and foreign participants.

Between the 26th and 29th of September, the motorcyclists will travel about a thousand kilometers, through «the most beautiful landscapes from North to South of the country», along unpaved roads.

«Without a competitive spirit or classification, the event, with a very accessible technical requirement, is a real challenge to discover, passing through lesser-known paths, over three stages», framed the City Council of Albufeira.

The last stage starts from Reguengos de Monsaraz. After arriving in Albufeira, the caravan will pass the Pau da Bandeira viewpoint, «where it will make a short stop to appreciate one of the most emblematic landscapes of the city, then descend to Praça dos Pescadores, where a reception will take place. prepared by the Municipality to welcome and welcome all participants».

The Portuguese Motorcycling Federation will seize the moment to proceed with the awareness campaign “Reforest Portugal de Lés-a-Lés”, started last year, to “not let the drama experienced in the many places affected by forest fires fall into oblivion. 2017, giving hope again to the populations of the interior, helping to plant hundreds of native trees».

On Saturday, children from Albufeira are invited to go to Praça dos Pescadores, at 14:30 pm, to watch the arrival of the motorbikes and participate in the campaign.

«Each child will receive a tree to plant in the backyard or in the garden at home, so they can take care of it and watch it grow, accompanied by a comic book that warns about the destruction of the forest by fires and the need to promote its reforestation with native species', according to the municipality.
