Olhão: Innovative vehicle equips firefighters on the Island of Armona

Câmara also participated in the purchase of a defibrillator to equip the Red Cross First Aid Post in Armona

A new vehicle for the protection and rescue service, in an investment of 52.500 euros, paid for by the Municipality of Olhão, is already at the service of the Municipal Fire Department on Ilha da Armona.

The vehicle reinforces the intervention capacity of firefighters in pre-hospital emergency, in fighting fires and in other incidents that may occur.

The vehicle, with 6×6 traction, is equipped with an independent and removable kit, with a fire suppression system with a capacity of 200 liters of water and 12 liters of foam and 50 meters of semi-rigid hose.

It also has the ability to intervene in pre-hospital emergencies, being equipped with a stretcher and first-aid equipment.

Equipped with the lighting and signaling system provided for emergency vehicles, the vehicle has communications with the Siresp and Rob networks and is equipped with an electric winch and front and rear towing systems.

In addition to investing in this support and rescue vehicle, the Municipality also contributed to the acquisition of a defibrillator to equip the Olhão Red Cross Help Desk on Ilha da Armona.

These are two «very important» investments, according to the mayor of the municipality, António Miguel Pina, for whom «the reinforcement of the means of protection and relief of all those who reside and visit Armona is essential»»
