Luís Costa and Rafael Lourenço go to Granfondo Municipality of Silves

Race starts in Tunis and ends in Silves

The Algarve athletes Luís Costa and Rafael Lourenço confirmed their presence at the 1st Granfondo Municipality of Silves/ADECT, scheduled for the next 15th of September, departing in Tunis.

Luís Costa was a bronze medalist in the individual time trial, in class H5, at the Paracycling World Championships in 2017 and won third place for Portugal in the 18km time trial of the UCI Paracycling Road World Cup in 2018.

Rafael Lourenço, born in São Bartolomeu de Messines and representing Liberty Seguros – Carglass, is, according to Câmara de Silves, «a born roller, with several victories in his record and participation in major competitions such as the Volta a Portugal en cicle and the Tour of the Algarve by Bike».

The municipality of Silves recalls that this race will have a total distance of 75 km, has a positive slope of 750m and will have as crossing points: Algoz, Alcantarilha, Pêra, Porches, Poço Barreto, Alcantarilha-Gare, SB Messines, Amorosa and will finish in Silves, predictably around 11:30 am.

Registration costs 15 euros (includes participation, cyclist kit and lunch) and must be made through the platform Cronosport.

Trophies will be awarded to the top three classifieds in the men's under23, men's elite, men's master 30, men's master 40, men's master 50, women's, and women's masters classes.

The initiative, which is part of the Municipality Day commemorative program, is promoted by the Municipality of Silves and ADECT and has the support of GNR, Firefighters from SB Messines, BikeSul, Algarve Delegation of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, Moto Clube do Algoz and Infrastructures of Portugal.
